AGITATION BY FSUI AT SCI KOLKATA DAY 1

Shipping Corporation of India (SCI) a public sector undertaking has unilaterally stopped crew selection for its ships from Kolkata, which was a practice of SCI since 1962, maintaining a ratio of 70:30 between Mumbai and Kolkata. Forward seamen’s union of India condemns this unilateral decision of SCI and asks it to reverse this with immediate effect. This decision will destroy the lives of thousands of seamen from Kolkata and entire Eastern India. Therefore, we warn SCI to reverse its exploitative decision, otherwise, FSUI will continue our already begun agitation and spread it across all the major ports in India, and SCI will be solely responsible for all the adverse consequences of the agitation.

FSUI also appeals ITF and global seafarer unions/ organizations to support FSUI on its e-mail ID fsuimumbai1@gmail.com in the struggle to save Seamen from Kolkata and Eastern India. E-mail ID of CMD: cmd@sci.co.in

Naresh Birwadkar, Gen. Secretary FSUI.
