NATIONWIDE HUNGER STRIKE

FSUI called for NATIONWIDE HUNGER STRIKE for the following demands of Working and Retired Seafarers.

  • Implementation of MLC/ILO Minimum Basic Wages of US$ 614 to Seafarers working on Indian Flag Ships.
  • All Shipping Companies should maintain Roaster for Employment of Seafarers on Rotation System.
  • Pension of Minimum Rs.5000/- for Retired Seafarers.  
  • Post Retirement Medical Benefits Scheme for retired seafarers and their families.
  • Travel Concession for retired seafarers.
  • Early settlement of Wage Agreement of SCI shore employees.
  • Involvement and control of Government of India in Seafarers Wage Agreement

The STRIKE was tremendously supported by all the Working & Retired seafarers across        India. Com. Dr. Ashok Dhavale, President All India Kisan Sabha and Com. Narsayya Adam, President CITU Maharashtra participated in the agitation to Support the Seafarers in their struggle. The agitation was carried out in various places across India and onboard various ships simultaneously. Thousands of seafarers participated in the Strike for their Rightful demands.
