“The Forward Seamen’s Union of India (FSUI)” is a Registered Trade union, affiliated with ITF and recognized by Government of India and Shipping Industry, established in the year 1954 from the inspiration of great freedom fighter Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose.
FSUI in its 65th year of existence comes with long standing track record of working for seafarer’s Rights and Welfare. We have done many successful struggles for seafarers’ wages, working conditions and have achieved milestone results such as “KUMUD BANSAL AWARD” and “PRATIMA UMARJI AWARD”, Presently we have more than 52,000 (plus) active seafarers registered with us, engaged on the Indian/ Foreign Registered ships, including Cruise line ships.
FSUI has recently taken up affiliation of the Shiv Sena, the ruling party’s Trade Union wing namely “All India Bharatiya Kamgar Sena Mahasangh” so that the problems of Seafarers and Shipping Companies can be highlighted to the government directly and issues resolved immediately for smooth functioning, ease of business and harmony for Sustainable Development!
